Production history
Woyzeck is a posthumous work of German expressionist, Georg Buchner.
This unfinished tragedy is based on a real murder. A low rank soldier, Woyzeck, was an outcast and disturb soldier. To earn extra income, he was subjected to dubious scientific experiments ? including a diet of peas. Often maltreated by his superiors, Woyzeck was transformed into a powerless man, physically and mentally. His only solace was his lover, Marie.

When he began to suspect her of infidelity with an officer.
His jealousy swiftly turned murderous. He killed Marie and drowned himself in the pond. Inevitably, this is a story of powerless creature ruined by cruel and inhuman circumstances.
Production history
In a daydream, Marie is interrupted by glittering sunlight in a peaceful garden.
A happy illusion of Woyzeck fades away and Marie vanished into thin air. A lame man stares into space. He is repeatedly chased by a group of imaginary people. He is all alone in the world. Suffering from hallucination, he mutters to himself and habitually takes peas. His daily life turns into a nightmare as he is experimented on by a doctor and continuously ridiculed by his officer.
Marie is lonely beside him. She danced a sensual and deviated dance and allures men to her. Woyzeck picks up the signs of the unfaithful wife and like a fierce beast, his anger grows.

A circus troupe performs, making fun of him. In a secluded place, Woyzeck kills Marie. The rain falls. Attention! Salute! Left! Right! Again ... and again ... Woyzeck walks into the river.
Marie and Woyzeck float to the sky.

This play imprints in audiences poetic images, dynamic movements, running water, twinkling starlight and passing showers. This is a poignant social satire.
A man kills his wife, kills himself, drowns, he becomes the river. Nottle¡¯s Woyzeck is neither eastern nor western, it belongs in a third area that fuses both. The mania of Woyzeck is heightened with this unique and stylish staging.
